Solo set for "Dictionary" at Spectrum

  • The Spectrum 59 Montrose Ave Brooklyn, NY, 11206 United States (map)

Dictionary aims to be a "monthly" night featuring writer's, arranged by poet Stephen Boyer, this will be an earlier evening of poets, performers, filmmakers. Dictionary showcases work created by voices pushing what it means to be "queer" in a culture that is rapidly homogenizing a word that was once only taken on as a label by the most "outsider of artists".

On this opening night @ The Spectrum we welcome guest Curator Michael Hart who met both Meaner Pencil and Cameron while they were performing on the subway platform. ("Two separate musicians, two separate occasions. Meaner Pencil singing and serenading with cello, Cameron doing things to a violin, keyboard and loop pedals I didn't know were possible.)

But they weren't just playing, they were transforming everyone around them from the inside out and under the crudest and coldest of conditions that NYC can offer in the dead of winter, and they did it with such an ease, such a matter of fact ness, control and command that I weep just writing about it."
