Developmental showing of Port Cities: NYC at Dixon Place

  • Dixon Place 161A Chrystie St New York, NY, 10002 United States (map)

This will be the developmental showing for a live theater scoring project I am currently working on and very excited to be a part of. The name of the project is Port Cities: NYC, and this showing will be held at Dixon Place, located at 161A Chrystie Street, NYC. (LES) [ tickets here: https://web.ovationtix.com/trs/pe.c/10012173 ]

About the project:

"PORT CITIES is an international performance event linking five cities along Seventeenth century Dutch trade routes. From Western Australia to Cape Town South Africa, from Amsterdam and New York to the old port of Jakarta, each city will host a unique performance or installation event. PORT CITIES aims to explore our interconnected heritage and its after effects."

"Using a live score by looping artist Cameron Orr, visuals by Horus Vacui and an ensemble that move, morph and mix between early settler icons and current day characters caught up in a world of systems and structures, PORT CITIES NY investigates the ghosts of Wall Street in an absurd immersive tour. Examining the 2008 economic crash against the backdrop of 17th Century Dutch Tulip Mania, the archeological discovery of a slave burial ground against commercial investments that incentivise mass incarceration, Port Cities NY aims to link the echoes of the past with the agendas of today."
